The Bored Ape Yacht Club released Roadmap 2.0 yesterday and apes went bananas!
The Roadmap, which is drawn like a map through a swamp, starts with the first annual Ape Fest in New York City 10/31-11/16. BAYC founder, Gargamel, confirmed to the community via Discord that the event would be taking place this year. While much is still unknown about Ape Fest, many BAYC members were quick to point out that the event is scheduled at the same time as NFT NYC.
Apes can expect more information on ape fest soon, according to Gargamel. “We’ll be releasing more info soon on ape fest and how to reserve for events etc. hopefully this week,” he said in the Discord yesterday afternoon.
As we continue down the river, the next stop is a BAYC+ MAYC mobile competition followed by “The Trial of Jimmy The Monkey (MD vs MI Prologue) with the image of a dogs paw under the text. Apes will remember Jimmy from the scavenger hunt. Apparently, the primate is back on his bullshit.
As we go about our journey down the BAYC roadmap, the next stops are MD vs. MMI followed by the MD vs. MMI final battle. While the BAYC has not given any official word on what this means, bored apes are creating their own theories. “It seems like the popular opinion is Mutant Dog vs Mecha Monkeys The 1st,” BAYC member Dragonseller tweeted.
This theory makes sense given the fact that we have already had mutant apes and that many in the BAYC received Decentraland robotic wearables for solving the bonus puzzle in the Crate Room.
During this time on the Roadmap, apes and mutant apes will also receive their 3D models. The BAYC had confirmed that apes would receive 3D models prior to Roadmap 2.0’s release as part of the roadmaps tease. “Every single Bored Ape and Mutant ape will receive a free, fully rendered and rigged 3Dmodel that they can use in the metaverse,” Gargamel posted in the Discord Announcement section on 8/29. “We’re working with Polygonal Mind to accomplish this, and given the sheer number of traits, it’s going to take a few months, but we’re really excited. Attached are some work-in-progress renders.”
Once the final battle of of MD vs. MMi concludes, the next stop on the Roadmap will be “The Trezor Hunt.” While not much is known about the hunt at the time of this articles publication, apes are speculating on twitter that this may be some sort of in real life treasure hunt. “@Boredapeyc roadmap 2.0 got me thinkin what if the Trezor Hunt is an actual hardware wallet hidden somewhere irl with a Bored Ape on it,” BAYC member Sumit.Eth tweeted.
After that, the next piece stop is the “Sandbox Miami 2035 + BAYC VX Apes.” While not much is known about this section of the roadmap yet, it likely has to do with the Sandbox Metaverse. This makes sense based on the Sandbox’s recent ape activity.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the Sandbox purchased Bored Ape #3749 for a recording setting 750 Eth. After the purchase, the Sandbox had a lot to say about their most recent ape purchase. “The Sandbox is a global community for players, virtual artists, and creators,” The Sandbox tweeted on September 7th. “We strongly believe that culture, whether games, music, visual arts, will be one of the pillars of the open crypto #metaverse. We don't just build and sell. We invest and help build the ecosystem. Bored Ape #3749 aka “The Captain” is a perfect example of why NFTs are the intersection of scarcity, art, and gaming. A six trait gold fur ape with a sea captain's hat, a black t-shirt, and of course laser eyes. Based on these traits, Bored Ape #3749 is the 27th rarest ape.”
After the Sandbox, the next item on Roadmap 2.0 is titled “Miami Clubhouse IRL.” This part of the roadmap has received a lot of attention from apes because many in the community have wanted a physical yacht club location for quite some time. While we do not know whether this would be a permanent or pop up clubhouse, we do know that bored apes are excited for it. “The Miami BAYC clubhouse pretty much seals the deal on me moving to Florida lol,” BAYC member Daniels Got Hits tweeted.
The final two items on the roadmap are A Top Secret Blockchain Game and The DAO. The Roadmap shows that all information on the game is currently reacted. As for the DAO, the BAYC did not give any further information on it. While nothing is offical, apes have a lot of thoughts and opinions on what it could be. “Ape DAO will have some kind of revenue share with holders IMO,” BAYC member Bored Ape 1000 tweeted. “That is where the Mutant vs OG ape tiering will come, with OG apes getting a higher % of revenue. DYOR.”
Along with the 10 listed items on Roadmap 2.0, the BAYC also teased serval more things planned along the way. “NOT LISTED: COLLABS, PARTNERSHIPS, AND DOPE SHIT WE DON’T WANT TO BE FRONTRUN ON,” the Roadmap stated in the bottom left corner.
