Egyptair’s new long-haul fleet will fly with updated entertainment and connectivity services from Panasonic Avionics on its new A350 fleet. The carrier ordered 10 of the A350-900s at the 2023 Dubai Air Show, with deliveries expected from 2025.
Panasonic Avionics draws on decades of experience and innovative solutions, and we are thrilled to use their advanced seatback solutions and offer our customers the latest and greatest technology to enhance their travel experience.

Egyptair will fit its A350s with 340 seats, split between business class and economy class cabins. In business class the seats will include a 19″ 4K OLED Astrova monitors from Panasonic Avionics, making it the launch carrier in Africa for the Astrova product line. The economy class seats will be fitted with 12″ screens. The Astrova platform, PAC’s newest inflight entertainment offering is proving a compelling play to many airlines. A company spokesperson notes it has won more than 90% of the customers it has proposed Astrova to.
“We’re thrilled to be to be launching Astrova in the African market with our longstanding and high valued customer, Egyptair,” said Hernan Abbes, Vice President of Global Sales, Panasonic Avionics Corporation. “Our goal is to revolutionize the seatback experience and enable airlines to engage with their passengers, and we’re confident our solutions will deliver these benefits for Egyptair and its customers.”
All passengers will have access to Bluetooth audio pairing through the screens, as well as access to both USB-A and USB-C charging. In business class Panasonic intends to deliver to 100W of power via USB-C, enough to fast charge every phone and tablet currently on the market, as well as approximately 90% of USB-C powered laptops.
The plane will also feature in-flight Wi-Fi service via PAC’s global Ku-band satellite network.
The deal is a big win for both the entertainment and connectivity offerings from PAC, but also comes with a couple interesting caveats.
