Screw up of the day: Alex Chiou and I were pair programming our first push notifications for Taro. Not thinking that the backend code would actually send anything, I did the classic dsafsdf message. Unfortunately, instead of sending the notification to 2 people, I inadvertently sent it to almost 10K people 🙈 Lesson learned: use proper grammar even while testing. photo credit Mohammed Hemaid, who sent us this screenshot less than a minute after my mishap 😂
Didn't expected this from a ex facebook dev 😅
Classic case of “whoops, it works in Prod”
an intern did that..
I received it lol What technology did you use for your backend (Taro)?
Rahul Pandey this was the second notification. The first notification was titled "Taro's First Notification". That came through perfect!
Way to keep them honest Mohammed!
Once I received a call from one of my product counterparts that he just sent a test notification to 20M users from our Notification panel with a deeplink which uaed to call 25 APIs. We had a 2 hours outage. 😂😂 Later we introduced notification ID and capability to update the content of unopened Notifications by sending different data to same id. This feature saved our a**es multiple times.
This thread could turn into a helluva blooper reel of everyone posted their biggest dev faux pas 😆
