  • Better than Passport: Android App

Better than Passport, BTP, is an app that helps Peralta Community College students search for classes. It has all the classes that can say that I can scrape from passport and is updated nightly. There is also a handy GPA calculator and an advanced search feature.

This Android app is built on the efficient and powerful Ionic framework using AngularJS for the back end. This was not my first time working with Android - in fact, I was dismayed when I found that I still had sign and align my…

This Android app is built on the efficient and powerful Ionic framework using AngularJS for the back end. This was not my first time working with Android - in fact, I was dismayed when I found that I still had sign and align my APK manually, let alone using two different console commands for this task - but this is my first time with Ionic and my second go at AngularJS. I love Ionic; it is miles ahead of PhoneGap which I was using the year before. Ionic uses this neat WebSocket driven server - no more refreshing for updates, you've got to love Node.js - for app testing and has a panoply of assets that you can use to build your app.

Overall I enjoyed making this app, it started out as an idea in the summer but became a reality due to some auspicious turn of events last December.

  • Cave - No monsters, no scores, just exploration.

An HTML5 cave exploration game, featuring rudimentary physics and audio. Was inspired by this NPR podcast:

  • LaunchList: Web App

    -

A Firebase and Angular2 (Ionic) app built to help people make and manage lists of online resources. Didn't get a chance to finish it, as the summer came to an end but it demonstrates the idea. Instead of doing multiple searches and visiting to multiple places to learn ruby on rails or music production, you can have one end-to-end list with the Internets finest tutorials to learn whatever you wanted.

  • Better than Passport: Website

    -

A responsive website built using Flask on App Engine to help Peralta students find classes.
Populated by Scrapy spiders, hosted on Scrapinghub, that collect over 12,831 classes weekly and crawl over 26,600 pages. Angular is powering a portion of the front end.

  • Winner of the 2017 Valley Hackathon - Mind Reader

    https://valleyhackathon.com/

We created a game that allowed people to test and work on their concentration and emotional control. My team integrated an EKG reader with a Raspberry Pi and an LED strip to display different mental states and emotions through the color and patterns of the LED strip. Different emotions were different colors and the rate of change of the LED strip was an indicator of concentration. I was responsible for programming the Java applet that communicated between the Raspberry Pi and the LED strip as…

My team integrated an EKG reader with a Raspberry Pi and an LED strip to display different mental states and emotions through the color and patterns of the LED strip. Different emotions were different colors and the rate of change of the LED strip was an indicator of concentration. I was responsible for programming the Java applet that communicated between the Raspberry Pi and the LED strip as well as a Python script that bootstrapped and started the entire application. I also gave the presentation of our project.

    Code2040

I was accepted as a Code2040 Fellow and would later intern at Stitch Fix over the summer of 2017. As a fellow, I spent the entire summer working on my technical and interpersonal skills. I participated in a hackathon where my team built service to help new English speakers find people to chat with. It is a Flask app that runs on App Engine; I worked on the backend, specifically implementing the user model and queue. It was an amazing summer full growth and…
