JetBlue passengers now have access to content from the Peacock streaming media service on board. As of this month a selection of Peacock content is now available on some seat-back screens of the carrier’s in-flight entertainment system.
The JetBlue-Peacock partnership was first announced in December 2022, with plans to have the content available in Spring 2023. Previously JetBlue offered a streaming partnership with Showtime, and with Amazon prior to that.
Like similar content partnerships with other airlines, JetBlue and Peacock offer a selection of content via the embedded inflight entertainment system on board. The content is limited to the newer, touch-screen IFE platforms as those are the only ones which support on-demand entertainment. This excludes the Embraer E190 fleet as well as the oldest A320s which were not retrofitted with the newer IFE system.
Moreover, thanks to JetBlue’s complimentary Fly-Fi inflight internet service the relationship stretches a bit further. Travelers will also be able to stream the pull selection of Peacock offerings on their own personal devices.
Alas, accessing that additional content still requires the passenger to have their own subscription to the service. While it seems like a natural extension of these partnerships, no airline has managed to deliver the streaming vendor complimentary for all passengers on board.
On the plus side, the carrier is delivering on its promise to make the service more available to its Mosaic frequent fliers. They can sign up for a free one-year subscription to Peacock Premium if not already a subscriber. Other TrueBlue members can sign up and earn 1,000 points for their subscription.
