Black Cat Studio is the fledgling DTP effort by game cartographer Rick Barber (aka El Carto, hereabouts.) Home of great graphics, innovative small games (such as Runnin' Amuck! (c)) and great looking game components and add-ons, such as the upcoming Terra Guerra (c) series of geomorphic map sections for squad and platoon level games.

- El Carto's GB'63 - For use with APL's Dave Powell's GB'63 (sorry, Dave!) $35.00
- El/C's Borodino - for use with GMT's Borodino T&G game (slightly oversized.) $35.00
- El/C's Mosby's Raiders - for use with, well, you get the picture... $35.00
- El/C's Cedar Mountain - - for use with the original SPI game, and will be used in the upcoming GBACW remake.... $35.00
- El/C's GBOC - (That's Blocks of Courage!) - three sheets; Gettysburg (2), Dillsburg (1) $90.00
- El/C's Gettysburg 151 - - replacement map for Worthington's GB 150 game, sized to fit on the original and allow use of that map's tracks and such... $35.00
- El/C's We Three Kings - Austerlitz:

- two sheet version/ 200 per hex, for use with a couple of games out there. $70/$50 prepub - four sheet version/ 140 per hex.for use with La Bat de Austerlitz components; $140/$100 prepub

- El Carto's Crimson Harvest - The Antietam Battlefield at 180 per hex for use with In Their Quiet Fields or any other Brigade scale treatment of the battle - $35

- El Carto's The Chosen Ground - the Pipe Creek Battlefield scaled for use with This Hallowed Ground or Three Days of Gettysburg components - Prototype work in progress.

- Epsom/Jupiter - An 8 (11 x 17) sheet set of maps covering much of the area of the 1944 battles; nominally scaled at 125/hex for TCS, but with hex size to accommodate any WWII Platoon level game. - 8 Sheets $35

- El Carto's Quatre Bras - Two sheets at 100/hex, suitable for La Bat and other such scaled games - $70

- El Carto's Waterloo - Three full sheets at an exact 100/hex - matching graphics with the above QB map. - $105.

- El Carto's Ligny - Five full sheets (well, 4 full and 2 half) - matches the above two - $175.

- El Carto's Wavre - Three full sheets, mates with the Waterloo maps - $105.

- Full sheet maps for all the Blind Swords games from Revolution - Stonewall's Sword, Thunder in the Ozarks, Longstreet Attacks! and Kernstown, and Tiny Battles' The Devil's to Pay!, the First Day at Gettysburg. These are printed at 110%, giving 22mm rather than the 20mm hexes in the published games. - $35 each

- Summer Storm - Three sheets (two full, two half) - SALE - $90/$120 if combined with the single sheet for my SS Expansion The Devil's to Pay.

- Last Eagles - Quatre Bras and Ligny - these are my own versions of the Hexasim maps I designed, done in the same 'style' as my Grognard maps above. These are at 200/hex, and cover the entire four sheets I designed back then, rather than the truncated 3 1/2 maps in their combined game (giving both flanks 5 more hexrows to maneuver/defend.) - $120 preorder, with expected printing shipping as soon as I can get the buggers done!

Special conditions - All prices include S&H in the USA east of the Mississippi. West of the Mississippi $5 additional. Canada $10 additional; Europe and elsewhere $15 more. These surcharges are per order, and not per sheet. All maps shipped rolled (never folded!) in a sturdy mailing tube.

All maps printed on 24lb stock, using a wax based ink that gives a very subtle texture and a very nice matte finish. 36lb stock is also available, at an additional $5 per sheet.

Thanks for posting. I got to meet Rick in his "Black Cat Studio" downstairs in 2015. He was a tireless worker on those maps and the love shows through.

Man, this is great news. Rick was an artist - so glad his work will be available again.

Very good news, thanks for your part in helping this to happen, Andy.

An incredible birthday present for El Carto.  Thanks for sharing, Andy.

It is a genuine pleasure and I am very grateful to Nikki and the publishers - and Rick of course.

+1

Pretty cool to see his broader range of art other than just wargame maps.

And the news gets better....

MOSBY'S RAIDERS

Thanks to Craig Thompson, we are able to once again make Rick's map for 'Mosby's Raiders' available here: http://limeyyankgames.co.uk/Maps

I had no idea about that one airplane painting.

Columbia and Worthington Gettysburgs

Eventually I'd love to see availability for Rick's maps of Gettyburg for Columbia's block game, Badges of Courage, and Worthington's Gettysburg 150. Don't know if that will ever happen, of course, and happy to see what's presently available out there.

Andy Loakes - Nov 22, 2022 3:54 am (#5960 Total: 5968)

[Loakes, Andy]

I think Worthington would be amenable based on previous correspondence, but I doubt they have the file (and neither Nikki nor I do at present). I haven't approached Columbia on this topic in the past, but would be happy to reach out to them.

Chris Fawcett - Nov 22, 2022 8:47 am (#5961 Total: 5968)

[Fawcett, Chris]

Andy, and the prices in the header still valid?  I'm eager to see the full Waterloo campaign set.

I have a pre-production Crimson Harvet map Rick put together by hand for me a number of years ago, and I'm gearing up to build a Fire & Fire adaptation for it.

Andy Loakes - Nov 22, 2022 10:34 am (#5962 Total: 5968)

[Loakes, Andy]

Hi Chris,

They are not. You'll need to go here for the current pricing: http://limeyyankgames.co.uk/maps

I should ask JK (& Nikki) if they'll grant me admin rights to this folder to allow me to update the header.

Chris Fawcett - Nov 22, 2022 11:08 am (#5963 Total: 5968)

[Fawcett, Chris]

These ship from the UK?

Andy Loakes - Nov 22, 2022 11:11 am (#5964 Total: 5968)

[Loakes, Andy]

They do.

Chris Fawcett - Nov 22, 2022 11:14 am (#5965 Total: 5968)

[Fawcett, Chris]

Grognard Sims sells these stateside?

Andy Loakes - Nov 22, 2022 11:18 am (#5966 Total: 5968)

[Loakes, Andy]

The Waterloo series ones, yes. I don't know what paper size, weight or price though.  You'll need to check with Chris.

Chris Fawcett - Nov 22, 2022 11:58 am (#5967 Total: 5968)

[Fawcett, Chris]

Waaaaaaaaay more expensive (>$750) than having them shipped from you (<$450).

Cheaper just to buy the whole series of games... :-O

Andy Loakes - Nov 22, 2022 12:15 pm (#5968 Total: 5968)

[Loakes, Andy]

You also have a little counter commission accrued with me Chris 😉.

Drop me an email if you are considering ordering.
