Book World Inc. having liquidation sale, closing all store locations

APPLETON (WLUK) -- The story is coming to an end for an Appleton-based book store.

Book World Inc. has announced it will close all 45 of its stores across seven states, including eight locations in Northeast Wisconsin.

The company says it will be having a liquidation sale, beginning Thursday, Nov. 2 and will run until all inventory is sold. Customers will find discounts on books, toys, games, puzzles, magazines, calendars and other gifts.

Book World Inc. cites the popularity of online shopping and less people shopping inside its stores as the reason for closing.

The company says it opened its first store in 1976 in Rhinelander and is currently the fourth largest book store chain in the U.S.
