Dear ABAP community,

do you always want to be up to date about the latest features in ABAP Development Tools (ADT) a.k.a. ABAP in Eclipse? If yes, keep on reading.

As of some client versions, we provide the so-called aggregated release notes in our ADT client documentation.

This content summarizes all topics that are relevant for a new ADT client version from every What's New content provided in each ADT Eclipse help plug-in. You don't need to skim through all help plug-ins anymore. You just get all release information on one sight directly in the new client. I think that's cool.

Where to Get The ADT Release Information?

When you switch your workspace or update your ADT client to a new version, the aggregated ADT release notes will be displayed in the editor:

This page summarizes all What's New topics across all SAP's help plug-ins that are relevant for the latest ADT client version. So, this page enables you to check the latest updates very quickly.

In addition, you can find the same information for all previous ADT client versions on the SAP help portal:

Feel free to bookmark these pages.

What Information Will You Get?

The first page defines the relevant back-ends for which the content is valid.

Followed by a table of contents that is separated into the two following sections

  • ADT client and the

  • ABAP RESTful Programming Model (RAP).

This enables to skim quickly over the topics that are relevant for you.

Finally, in accordance to the relevant section from above, the release information is listed. The text quickly informs you about the technical change, the context, the use case, and your benefit of the new or changed feature. In addition, you will find a link to the updated help content. To visualize the content, we use screenshots or animated GIFs. We also think about creating videos in the future.
