Hi-tech robot on Russian TV turns out to be man in a costume

A "state-of-the-art" robot that featured on a state owned Russian TV news channel report was in fact a man in a costume.

'Boris' the Robot was apparently able to walk, talk and dance - and was passed off as state-of-the-art robotics by the TV channel at a technology forum for school pupils.

But its authenticity started being questioned when photos appeared online that clearly showed a human inside a robot suit.

The robot costume can be bought for 250,000 rouble (£2,975).

A journalist for the state owned TV news channel Rossiya 24 denied they intended to mislead viewers, saying in an interview that he was sure that people would know it was a costume and like Santa Claus, it was a project created for children.
