First look at Tesla’s Model S P100D performance: 10.7 sec 1/4 mile, 0-60 in 2.5 sec

One of first deliveries of Tesla’s highly-anticipated P100D – “world’s fastest accelerating production car” – took place last night at the West Palm Beach Service Center [street view].

Dan Ringdahl placed the order on a Deep Blue Metallic Tesla Model S P100D on August 24 which was originally slated for a late September delivery, then pushed back to October, and now suddenly showed up at the local delivery center. Dan tells us, “They [West Palm Beach Service Center] called me and said I could take delivery the next day. We were all surprised. There was no push from Tesla for early delivery to me. They were as surprised as me that it showed up so soon.”

Soon after delivery, Dan and son Noah did what any other P100D owner would likely do – take it on a performance test. And what better person to test 0-60 mph and 1/4 mile blasts in a Tesla than the folks at Dragtimes. “I picked it up last night at 6pm and drove down to Fort Lauderdale to test it with Brooks from Dragtimes. We confirmed the 2.5 sec 0-60 several times. The car is amazing quick.”

Amazing quick it is. Using the VBOX, Dragtimes was able to confirm a 10.7 second 1/4 mile and 760 horsepower (567KW). The Model S P100D’s unofficial 10.7 second 1/4 mile blast tops the previous world record of 10.8 seconds held by a Model S P90D with Ludicrous.
