Your role on the team

As a principal software engineer, you’ll be architecting and implementing critical elements of Monitaur's products for enabling AI Governance. You will work closely with the Director of Engineering and Product to design and implement the next generation of AI Governance features on our platform, which leverages the Django framework and is hosted on AWS. Upcoming projects include: scaling from 10’s of millions of transactions per customer to billions; improving data flow between services; integrating cutting edge Data Science techniques to evaluate our customer’s models (and working closely with our front-end team to provide them with the APIs to visualize these models); maintaining application security, and much more!

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design with robust scalability in mind
  • Lead the delivery of architectural changes and major project initiatives
  • Deliver product features large and small
  • Interface with leads in front-end, data engineering, product and other groups
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineering and Infrastructure to ensure scalability needs are met now and in the future
  • Write tests and contribute to ongoing automation infrastructure development
  • Take ownership of our APIs
  • Collaborate with teams globally across multiple time zones and operate in an agile development environment
  • Establish and maintain code standards
  • Mentor fellow developers

Must haves

  • 12 years of professional software development experience
  • 7 years of professional Python experience
  • 3 years experience leveraging a data warehouse like Redshift or Snowflake as your primary data store for a web application
  • 2 years of experience with Django
  • Proficient in Relational Databases and query optimization (Postgres preferred)
  • Experience with NoSQL
  • Expertise developing RESTful backend services with Python, Django, Django REST Framework, and Docker
  • Expertise with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests with pytest
  • Experience with Celery (or other task or message queue system)
  • You always leave code better than you found it
  • Ability to work autonomously, wear multiple hats, understand trade-offs
  • You are currently authorized to work in the US

Nice to haves

  • Expertise with Django
  • Experience processing large volumes of data using Apache Spark
  • Experience with Docker orchestration tools like ECS and Kubernetes
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with full-cycle development, going from inception to delivery, using Docker and AWS
  • Familiarity with Data Science
  • Startup experience
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related field
