Air Canada is extending its all-premium Jetz service to multiple sun and sand destinations this winter, building on the success of the company’s business travel focus for the planes earlier this year. The dedicated sub-fleet of A319 aircraft will carry passengers to eight warm weather markets from a trio of Canadian gateways.
Air Canada is very pleased to offer its customers a unique opportunity to travel like a pro athlete or a VIP and experience our premium Jetz service. Customers booking on a Jetz flight will enjoy such amenities as its all-Business Class seating configuration, upgraded meal service, and shorter boarding and deplaning times. These features, combined with Jetz’s other attributes, create a private-jet-like experience.
– Mark Galardo, VP Network Planning and Alliances
The Jetz fleet features just 58 business class seats on board in a 2-2 configuration with 42-to-49-inch seat pitch, compared to the typical 3-3 layout for economy class travel. While the previous configuration blocked the rear-facing pair of seats at the mid-cabin tables the Winter routes will make those available for families flying together.
The planes typically transport customers such as professional sports teams, popular musical groups on tour, and corporate clients on a charter basis. With those markets gone, however, Air Canada hopes to deliver a more comfortable passenger experience and a version of in-flight social distancing, without compromising on fares.
To that end the company chose markets where premium leisure demand typically outstrips demand. From Toronto the carrier will offer Jetz all-business class flights to Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Barbados, Cancun, Kelowna and Vancouver. Montreal will see flights to Fort Lauderdale and Barbados. Vancouver will offer the premium service to Phoenix, Palm Springs and Puerto Vallarta.
Bookings are now open, with the initial tranche of Jetz flights operating during the Christmas period between December 12, 2020 and January 6, 2021. A second round of flights for March Break is currently under development.
Jetz passengers receive priority check-in and security clearance, Maple Leaf Lounge and Star Alliance Lounge access (where available) and aircraft leave from prime gate locations, requiring customers to begin boarding only 35 minutes prior departure. Customers will also be offered a premium, pre-packaged meal curated by celebrated Montreal chef Antonio Park with complimentary bar and beverage service.
Passengers will have access to complimentary iPads for entertainment during the flights. The aircraft are also equipped with the Gogo ATG-4 inflight connectivity hardware.
The company also plans to offer a premium package booking option including the Jetz flights plus luxury hotels and resorts, private transfers, exclusive resort discounts, room upgrades and complimentary services. These services will be branded as Ultimate Escapes and sold through the Air Canada Vacations arm.
