NetJets will upgrade the inflight internet service on more than 450 aircraft as part of a contract extension with Gogo. The 10-year deal lays the framework for an initial upgrade to the Gogo AVANCE L5 offering on the existing fitted fleet. Future options for Gogo 5G and Gogo Galileo are also included.
Our Owners require reliable connectivity to continue their workday or connect with entertainment in-flight, which made AVANCE L5 and Gogo 5G the right platform to meet their needs, especially when traveling across America. – Brad Ferrell, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for NetJets
For the NetJets fleet based in North America the upgrade program will begin with AVANCE L5. The companies expect the aircraft will then migrate to Gogo 5G as it becomes available later this year. Those planes will also have the option to install Gogo Galileo, the company’s satellite offering that runs on the OneWeb LEO constellation. Aircraft based in Europe will implement Galileo, as Gogo does not offer a terrestrial option there. Gogo also expects the Galileo option to become available in the back half of 2024.
“Gogo is excited to continue our long-term partnership with NetJets,” said Sergio Aguirre, Gogo’s president and chief operating officer. “With more than 450 U.S. aircraft currently equipped with Gogo’s systems, upgrading to AVANCE L5 will improve performance by three times, and Gogo 5G will improve performance several times that. Meanwhile, we are also bringing an even better experience to operators throughout Europe and around the world with Gogo Galileo.”
Ultimately, the entire NetJets fleet will have the option for faster inflight internet service, beyond the fleet aircraft currently fitted today.
