Become a PyCon US 2023 Volunteer!

A community conference like PyCon US is in large part run by volunteers. There are many ways to get involved if you are interested in serving the community and meeting others as part of the team who makes the conference possible!

The two major opportunities to volunteer before the conference are happening right now — we need volunteers to help our CFP Committees review proposal submissions and help select the topics that will be presented at this year’s conference as well as volunteers to join our Online Experience Committee to assist in enhancing the PyCon US virtual experience and boost engagement for our online attendees.

CFP Reviewers

We are looking for reviewers from all backgrounds to help select a diverse range of topics presented at PyCon US 2023. Proposal reviews will take place via Pretalx and the review process will be facilitated by the PyCon US CFP Committees. There will be two rounds of reviews with Round 1 beginning mid December. If you would like to volunteer, we ask that you are available to take part during the following timeline (ideally 10-12 hours per week during each round):
  • December 10-December 26: Review Round 1
  • December 27-January 10: Review Round 2
We are currently recruiting reviewers for the following tracks:
  • Talks
  • Tutorials
  • Posters
  • Charlas
If you are interested in helping review submissions, please fill out this form no later than November 25, 2022.

Online Experience Committee

PyCon US is introducing a new volunteer committee this year to enhance the PyCon US virtual experience and increase online attendee engagement. The Online Experience Committee will assist with the building out and moderation of the PyCon US virtual platform, Hubilo. The committee will begin working in late January/early February and will work closely with the PyCon US events team and AV team to coordinate live streaming of all recorded tracks during the event.

For more information about the committee member role description, visit this page and submit your application here.

There will be opportunities to sign up for on-site volunteer roles at PyCon US 2023 once the date of the conference is a bit closer. We will announce each sign-up opportunity both on this via the PyCon US Twitter page and the PyCon US website, so follow along for the chance to volunteer as one of the people who helps put PyCon US on for the worldwide Python community!
