Introducing Our 2024 Session 1 Officers

We reached out to our Django community connections to broaden our reach, and we want to express our sincere thanks to everyone who pitched in—whether as a volunteer, sharing our social media posts, or referring friends to our program. The support has been incredible!
We've had the pleasure of meeting with each person who showed interest in volunteering as a Captain or Navigator. It's been a great opportunity to get to know them better and figure out the best fit within our organization. To maintain the health of both the community and the Django project, we're planning to spread the workload by tapping into different sets of volunteers throughout the year, across various cohorts, to avoid burnout.
Our organization is built on the pillars of accountability, sponsorship, connection, and inclusivity. We believe that each volunteer can contribute to these values, bringing their own unique experiences and expertise to the table in terms of both contribution and mentorship. Volunteers have been carefully paired with Djangonauts, creating teams based on timezone, project interests, and a well-rounded mix of skills.

Tom is a software engineer working mostly with web technologies, particularly Python, Django and PostgreSQL. He has a deep interest in using infrastructure in the most efficient and least carbon-intensive way possible. He is a long term contributor to Django and he is the creator and member of the Django Accessibility Team.

Peter is a founder of Two Rock Software, a custom Django development company in North Carolina. He is President of Django Events Foundation North America and chaired the organizing committee for DjangoCon US 2023. He's passionate about community, movement, and plants.
