“Ákos was my best lead so far, both keeping a high professional working standard, motivating others to grow and meet these standards, and at the same time enabling them to find their own growth areas. We spent almost 3 years working together and as we are both on a senior level, he's been always open for new ideas and potential productive criticism about processes, technologies, etc... enabling a continuously evolving framework, and and inspiring working environment. He has always been eager to spend time on knowledge transfer for less experienced colleagues to ensure they will be able to solve more and more on their own. Also when it came to people management-related tasks, we always represented us with both respect and professionalism.”

You're facing a regression testing dilemma. How can you ensure test coverage without missing deadlines?
Impact, priority, value. The holy trinity of test case selection. If you have to sacrifice test cases in order to save time then rank them and cut off the bottom. But if you have any other options then consider them: involving more people in execution, moving the deadline, shrinking the content, outsorcing some tasks, automate(!), etc. You’ve created these test cases for a reason: to execute them. Skipping the bottom ones always introduces risk!

Your team is focused on app stability, but how do you keep them motivated without flashy new features?
Be upfront with them, outlining both the potential risks and the desired outcome. While they're likely aware of the need for maintenance and stabilization, it's worth revisiting the reasons together. Tnderstanding the 'why' behind high-level decisions can be incredibly motivating. If feasible, consider incorporating technical debt reduction, pair programming, and tool evaluation with trial periods to keep them engaged.

Balancing thorough testing and project deadlines: Are you sacrificing quality for speed?
Depends on 1. what is the reason for the given deadline (legal, technical, personal reasons) 2. what would be the consequences of a deadline shift 3. what options does the team have to keep both agreed deadline and quality (overtime, content change, hiring, budget, etc.) So there is no general answer to this question. The best practicies contain 1. plan ahead with your capacity, executable test levels and types 2. consider ups and downs when a deadline is set 3. work on automation continously in order to decrease the duration of regression execution 4. keep the balance of QA and Dev team capacities 5. involve other disciplines into testing 6. do NOT get estimations final! They are rarely kept and rather only results of guessing
