Hiring the Formerly Incarcerated: Rising Tides Lift All Boats with Kurt Kemple

Relicans host Aisha Blake talks to DevRel Manager at Apollo GraphQL, Kurt Kemple about being formerly incarcerated and taking an (all caps) INTERMEDIATE WEB PAGE course, and now working in Developer Advocacy.

Kurt is also a proponent of the fact that people have lives outside of work and employers should give them time to educate themselves freely and urges everyone to check out The Marshall Project, which is a great project that is at the intersection of tech and criminal justice reform. This project uses data-driven insights to create really good reporting about issues with the prison industrial complex and criminal justice system, especially when it comes to racial issues as well, like how white supremacy is essentially a large driving factor of our current prison industrial complex.
