Google Gemini's Latest Update Empowers Content Editing With AI; Here’s How You Can Do It

When ChatGPT made its debut in 2022, it captivated users with its multifaceted capabilities, spanning content editing, poetry composition, and music creation. Following suit, Google introduced its AI tool, Bard, which has since evolved into Gemini.

In its latest update, Google introduces an innovative feature empowering users to seamlessly edit content generated by Gemini, promising not only time savings but also enhanced content quality.

This innovative capability simplifies the process of refining the chatbot's answers to user queries, eliminating the need for complete rewrites. Previously, editing content produced by Gemini entailed either manual adjustments or requesting a complete rewrite, but with this new feature, users can effortlessly edit specific portions of the text, adjust its length, or opt for a complete rewrite.

How to Utilize Gemini's New Editing Feature

  1. Users select the portion of text they want to modify, prompting a pencil icon to appear.
  2. Clicking the icon reveals a pop-up menu with four options: regenerate, shorter, longer, and remove.
  3. The 'regenerate' option completely rewrites the sentence, while the other options allow users to shorten, lengthen, or remove the selected text.

According to a report by 9to5Google, users may receive a 'Gemini couldn't do that' response in specific situations, such as when they request unsupported text formatting changes, omit instructions for modifying the response, or pose queries beyond the chatbot's comprehension.

Google seems to restrict users from editing text responses originating from extensions, those containing code blocks, and selections with images. It's important to highlight that this feature is currently limited to English and operates solely on the web version of Gemini.
