Syncfusion Essential Studio 2020 Volume 1 is Here!

Syncfusion is glad to announce the Essential Studio 2020 Volume 1 release. We have introduced some new components and enhanced various other components by adding new features. Also, several bug fixes are included for this release.

Let’s take a brief look at the changes in the individual platforms.

Xamarin

  • The new trendline feature in the Charts control allows users to analyze and display the current and past trends of data graphically.
  • The Xamarin.Forms DataGrid component now supports the WPF platform.
  • The following controls have been moved from preview to production-ready state:

Flutter

  • The following new widgets have been introduced in Flutter:
  • A new PDF document creation library has been introduced, which can be used in mobile and web development for the creation and manipulation of PDF documents without any dependency on Adobe Acrobat
  • All our Flutter widgets are now compatible with web development.
  • Three more financial chart types have been added to our Flutter Charts package:
    • HiLo
    • Open-high-low-close
    • Candle
  • The Radial Gauge widget has moved from preview to production-ready status.

Blazor – Web

JavaScript – Web

  • The Kanban control, a new control, is included in this release, which can be used in task scheduling such as for software and product development, project management, and task planning.
  • The new Dropdown Tree control is now available for the JavaScript suite.
  • The new Progress Bar control has been introduced. This is used to visualize the changing status of an extended operation such as a download, file transfer, or installation. It can also represent the progress in text format with a percent.
  • The infinite scrolling support in the DataGrid allows users to load data using the lazy loading concept.
  • The Charts control now allows users to highlight data points and apply patterns to highlighted and selected points.
  • The Spreadsheet control has many enhancements, including:
    • Validate edited values based on rules with data validation.
    • Merge cells to span two or more cells.
    • Use a cell template to insert custom elements like a button or check box.
    • Draw borders around a cell or range of cells.
    • Wrap text to display large text content in multiple lines.

WPF

  • The support for the following 4 new themes are provided for both framework and Syncfusion controls.
    • Material light.
    • Material dark.
    • Material light blue.
    • Material dark blue.
  • The Radial Gauge control has many enhancements, some of which include:
    • Tail support for needle pointers.
    • Rounded corners for range pointers.
    • Support to add annotations.
  • The Image Editor lets you add custom views and customize file names when saving.
  • The token support feature in AutoComplete allows users to display selected items from the suggestions as tokens.
  • The drop-down UI allows users to show a drop-down button in the AutoComplete
  • The DatePicker and TimePicker controls have the following enhancements:
    • ComboBox-based design for a better user experience.
    • Text box control-like editing of dates and times.
    • When field editing is completed, focus will automatically switch to the next field.
    • Keyboard navigation support.

File formats

PDF Library

The following are the enhancements available in PDF Library:

  • Import and export XFA form data in XML format.
  • Check whether reader-extended features are enabled in an existing PDF form document.
  • Substitute fonts in the existing PDF document while flattening the PDF form fields to preserve text properly.

Excel Library

The following are the enhancements available for pivot tables in Excel Library:

  • Format cells with options such as background color, foreground color, borders, fonts, and more.
  • Convert pivot tables to PDF and image formats.
  • Create pivot tables in outline and tabular layouts.

Word Library

  • Word Library now allows replacing a field with its most recent result in the Word document by unlinking the field.
  • The following enhancements have been made in Word-to-PDF conversion:
    • Table cell size adjusts automatically based on its content.
    • Keep-with-next functionality for paragraphs inside the content control.
    • Floating items (images, shapes) with horizontal origins can be positioned relative to characters.
    • Improvements in converting a Word document into a 508-compliant accessible PDF (tagged PDF) document.

PowerPoint Library

  • Using PowerPoint Library, you can now create and edit headers and footers in PowerPoint slides.
