Frontier Airlines wants travelers to get vaccinated. That’s the message being sent with a pair of new promotions out today. There’s just one problem: Neither promotion actually requires passengers to be vaccinated to benefit.
BOGO For Discount Den Members
Members of the company’s paid Discount Den program can access free companion flights through the end of October for purchases made by Monday. Routes and dates are limited, of course. But for a promotion advertised as a “friends with vaccines fly free,” access to the offer is surprisingly not. The company published a discount code for any Den members to use for the deal.
Among the limitations, the promo only applies on CONUS routes for travel Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Some routes are excluded, but details on which are not provided.
Big bonus points, too
The company is also offering 10,000 bonus points for every two flights through the end of the year. The deal applies only to new purchases and passengers can earn a maximum of 10 bonuses.
As for the vaccine status part, that’s running on the honor system, “By submitting a form, you agree that you are vaccinated.” That’s all.
Unlike the United Airlines promotion from earlier this year, no verification will be required of vaccine status.
Most participants will probably play by the rules. But that’s likely because most Americans are vaccinated, not because some bonus points from an airline are the tipping point to make that decision.
Adding in that verification would cost money and drops the engagement rates, though. And that’s not the goal here. Marketing is.
