"Look mummy I found a toad" My daughter aged 8, whilst we were living in Tanzania. I had a 2-year teaching post at an International School in Arusha. My husband took extended leave of the newsdesk. My son can be seen in the background foraging for more toads, not sisters. #internationalteacher #teacherrascal #resilientkids

What topic, issue, or subject ignites your child's passion and inspires them to take action? In our Resilient Kids session, we mind-mapped activities for the upcoming six-week programme. The focus will be on developing real-world skills through engaging tasks: -Boosting confidence through public speaking exercises. -Enhancing research abilities for their individual passion projects. -Watching inspiring and child-friendly talks to broaden perspectives. -Creating presentations using Canva and practicing delivery techniques. -Delivering a talk to a small, supportive audience, ie parents. -Reflecting on progress, reviewing achievements, and setting new goals for future research, presentations, and talks. Popular passion projects among the children include themes related to Minecraft! Most of my sessions are via Zoom or in person at my home in Guildford. One of my goals is to gather all the kids together virtually, so they can share their talks with each other, as I do with my "Random Dialogues" speaking events - 6 speakers, 6 minutes each over 60 minutes.

Your children don't need a perfect parent; they need a real one. By embracing who you are, flaws and all, you teach them the invaluable lesson of self-acceptance. Parenting is a path filled with countless voices offering advice and opinions. Amidst the chaos, it's easy to lose sight of your own inner voice. But true strength lies in staying grounded in your values and embracing your unique identity. Listen to the whisper of your own heart. Trust your instincts. Authenticity is your superpower. Embrace it, own it, and walk your own line. #parentingjourney #authenticparenting #trustyourinstincts #embracethejourney #parentingadvice #raisingkids #authenticitymatters #familyvalues #uniqueparenting #parentingstrength #parentingtruths #realparenting #innerstrength #selfacceptance #parenthood #parentingwisdom #beyourself #parentingquotes #parentinginspiration #parentingtips

Parents frequently approach me with questions about "YouTube" and how to effectively monitor it for their children. YouTube is an immense platform with a wealth of content, and when utilised purposefully, it can serve as an outstanding educational resource. However, as both a teacher and a parent, I understand the challenge of replicating the captivating allure of short, entertaining clips that deliver that instant serotonin boost! One strategy I strongly recommend is working together with your child to establish a structured timetable for YouTube usage. This creates a clear framework for when and for how long the platform is accessed. Let's be honest; kids can be quite reluctant to log off, and it's safe to say that many adults face the same struggle! By setting a schedule, you not only promote responsible screen time but also ensure that YouTube becomes a valuable part of your child's learning journey. Plus, it's an excellent opportunity to engage in conversations about what they're watching, helping them develop critical thinking skills and making their online experience safer and more enriching. Do you embrace the learning potential of YouTube while maintaining a healthy balance in your child's digital life? Let’s chat… #youtube #parentingtips #digitalbalance #educationmatters
