The existing C + + CAD application was re-placed by a new application based on .NET 2.0 and C #. These forward-looking solutions resulted in a substantial reduction of mainte-nance costs. Changes requested by the cus-tomer can now be fulfilled using configuration files (XML) instead of program adjustments. The complete data migration of the former system plans was a particular challenge. This task was solved using a new XML file format.

This enabled continuous optimi-sation of the efficiency of the power plant and an early detection of potential problems. In addition, the exist-ing software was also improved: It received an updated GUI, optimised calculations on the server and a performance increase of 30%. The report generator was re-implemented.
