Dublin launches new gunshot detection system to boost police response and safety

LAURENS COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — The city of Dublin is announcing the start of a gunshot detection system, adding a new utility to the police department's toolbelt.

According to Dublin officials, the Flock Raven Gunshot Detection System can immediately point police to a specific location and allows for faster response times and increased accuracy by local law enforcement.

Dublin City Manager Josh Powell made remarks in a release on the newly acquired system and how he thinks the community will benefit in the future.

"This technology is great for our officers," said Powell. "Accurate information provides less confusion and greater clarity for our officers to be able to respond to these incidents. We are using this technology to keep our community safe."

Dublin Mayor Joshua Kight is impressed by the new system and believes it may also deter gun violence in the community.

"This gunshot detection system is already proving its value," said Mayor Kight. "It won't take long for criminals to learn that using guns in Dublin will put the police on their doorsteps in minutes. We will continue to invest in technology that assists our officers in bringing perpetrators to justice and increase the safety of our citizens."
