These Six Technologies May Just Change the World

Latest Hot DEALS

Before technology began to advance as it does now, it only seemed to take one single breakthrough to change the world. Whether it was the minicomputer in the 70’s, the PC in the 80’s or the internet in the 90’s, each one of these individual components played a large part in how the world has developed into the what it is now.  But moving forward no longer is it just one technology that will change the world, but six, and they are cloud technology, digital labor, consumer experience, internet of services, continuous delivery, and new operating models. Let’s take a closer look at each of those vital world-changing components:

Cloud Technology:  The cloud was developed as a utility for storage, and servers and many companies have now adopted the technology to keep up with the latest innovations and also to reduce the amount of IT staff needed.  Cloud service providers are also making large investments into the business in an attempt to tighten security on their network and in their data centers.

Digital Labor:  This refers to the smart systems and robots that are being introduced into the world and are replacing various human jobs by offering a more efficient service. It is estimated that over 22 million jobs will be displaced due to digital automation over the next ten years.  Initially, this will start with call center jobs and others that are largely based on repetition.

Consumer Experience:  Customers are always at the heart of any successful business, and they now have instant access to a range of production info and reviews, as well as hearing about other people’s customer experiences. With social media as big as it is today, it’s often the first place people go in order to complain about a customer experience, so it’s important companies get it right the first time.

Internet of Services:  Cisco boffs have predicted that by the time 2020 comes along there will be more than 50 billion devices connected to the internet.  Through the use of the internet, products can be turned into services and some software vendors are already moving in that direction.

Continuous Delivery:  Many companies are now using continuous delivery to update and improve their products, rather than having the customer wait for a one-time release of new applications or upgrades. With continuous delivery, it can be done as often or as seldom as the companies need to.

New Operating Model:  The new IT operating model now comes directly from providing services that can deliver outcome business requirements.  Demands need to be met regarding IT innovation, flexibility, faster delivery times, and providing integrated systems.
