Functional mobile testers are no more restricted to performing purely black box testing of mobile websites and mobile native/hybrid apps. Moreover, with each team aggressively adopting Agile practices for software development, the barriers between developers and testers are dissolving and there is either an explicit or implicit expectation from testers to be more technical. The term “technical debt” can now get it’s sibling called “technical testing debt” which could basically be the extra testing work that may need to be done because the best approach was not followed earlier.

One of the best approaches that some technical testers follow is:
    > Perform a better root cause using a variety of dev tools.
    > Obtain a wider coverage of tests due to hack-ability provided by such tools.
    > Mobile testing can thus be upgraded to better understand issues and make your developers’ lives easier as you can provide much more information to them in your defects.

This paper describes methods, and approaches that we adopted while testing and debugging mobile websites and native apps for the Android and iOS platforms using a variety of tools and showcase demos of how that can be done.

This paper was submitted and shortlisted for presentation in Global Testing Retreat 2017 conference.

  • Selenium Debugger

    -

Developed a simple selenium debugger, an interactive command line tool that will let you run and debug routine selenium commands (finding an element by various locator strategies, performing actions on the element) without writing any script. This project was part of the one day hackathon "Energizer" that gets held in Xtremum Solutions every month
