2 days after the IAM Summit by Gartner, what to say about Machine Identity Management? let summarize it in 5 points 1/ Machine Identity Management is dominating the IAM priorities for CISO. Gartner says ''you have to tacle a complex and urgent issue, NOW". 2/ Machine Identity Management concept has been adopted by several cyber security providers attending this event, Venafi was the only one before (as creator fo this category) 3/ Less Humans more Machines, IAM team must redirect theirs efforts, resources and strategy 4/ Read the last Gartner research co written by Erik Wahlström and Paul Rabinovich : ''Effectively Manage your organization's certificates'', providing a very good vision of the required capabilities to achieve your objectives 5/ Based on Client interest, Gartner predicts rapid adoption of CLM Tools in the next 12 to 24 months #venafi #clm

Very interesting research done by Gartner related to Certificates. They push for a global visibility, control and governance of all certificates. Glad to be aligned on this as it is our mantra since a decade. I'm also aligned on their recommendation, open protocols can be the only solution for massive provisioning and complex use case management. And again we can confirm it, with the largest ecosystems and hundreds of native integrations, our customers still ask more. https://lnkd.in/dyPnmTiP
Establish better processes to manage your x.509 certificates now! I find the following datapoint interesting: In 2023, our team took twice as many calls about PKI and certificate life-cycle management (CLM) than we took calls about MFA. There are many reasons for the surge of PKI calls: - SSL everywhere trends. - The need to support a hybrid and multi-cloud environment with many more CA’s and trust anchors than ever before. - Google announcing their intention to only accept certificates that are valid for 90 days. - Modernization of legacy or badly managed PKI environments. - The need for discovery, reports, ownership, and automation of the lifecycle of all server certificates. - The need for crypto-agility. - The need to start preparing for the upcoming cryptopocalypse. - The need to establish better posture management and monitoring of configuration creep. Paul Rabinovich and I just published new PKI/CLM research in the document “Effectively Manage Your Organization’s Certificates” (behind paywall) to help organizations with above. The document talks about the needs, the capabilities, the vendor space and the future. What you need to do now: - Establish control over your organization’s certificates by setting up a CLM practice. - Gain visibility into your certificates by inventorying them, maintaining up-to-date information about them and implementing expiration alerts. - Ensure uninterrupted operation in high-volume and/or short-life-span certificate use cases by implementing automation. - Optimize machine identity management, including CLM, across your organization by establishing a machine identity working group or assigning the task to your security or IAM team. https://lnkd.in/dZucKQSQ
