Timmins Police Services Board is contracting an executive search firm to assist with the selection of the community’s next police chief.

Waterhouse Executive Search, an executive search firm with a distinguished track record in recruiting top-tier leadership for public safety organizations has been selected.

Board chair Kraymr Grenke emphasized the significance of this step in selecting a successor for Daniel Foy, who retired in late November.

“Selecting the next chief of police is a crucial decision for our community,” he said.

“Given the public nature of this leadership position, the board felt it imperative to conduct a full selection process to ensure the voices of Timmins Police Service members and the community as a whole are heard.

“Waterhouse Executive Search, with their proven track record, will ensure a comprehensive and thoughtful selection process to identify a leader who will lead Timmins Police Service into the future.”

According to a press release issued by the board on Thursday, the search process will commence immediately, reflecting the board’s commitment to a timely and effective transition.

It goes on to state the board is dedicated to maintaining transparent communication throughout this process, with regular updates. Communication milestones will be shared with the members of Timmins Police Service at appropriate intervals.

“Timmins Police Services Board extends its gratitude to the community for their continued support and confidence during this transition period,” it reads.

“The board looks forward to engaging with stakeholders, including members of the Timmins Police Service, to ensure a collaborative and inclusive search for our next chief of police.”
