According to a report from Upwork, nearly 60 million people (in the US alone) performed freelance work in 2021. 📈 The trend toward leaving the comfort of the 9-5 life in favor of the adventure of the freelance life continues to build momentum in 2022. If you've recently considered making the shift, you first need to think about how prepared you actually are to make the move. I recently left the comfort of the 9-5 life to launch Gaenzle Marketing. It has been the best decision I've ever made (business-wise, of course - my wife and children were the best decisions overall 😊), but it hasn't come without its challenges. Freelancing is wonderful. There are so many benefits: being your own boss, choosing clients, working from anywhere, spending more time with family, and the list goes on. But, as I found out quickly, there are also challenges you'll face that you likely haven't considered. Before you make the leap, be sure you're fully prepared for the unexpected things that may pop up during your transition. Ask yourself these questions before you make the leap. 1. Will you miss office interaction? 2. Do you have backup funds as you grow? 3. Is your home set up properly? 4. Can you draw the work-life balance line? 5. Are you ok with the uncertainty? 6. How many hats (roles) can you wear? Many aspiring freelancers think only about the benefits before they launch. Then, as they jump in, they find themselves struggling with the unexpected. This narrative is by no means meant to scare you away from the freelance life. Rather, it's meant to prepare you and inspire you as you go all in armed with the knowledge you need to prepare a strategy to deal with all of the above. If you go into the freelance life fully prepared, you'll be ready to start rocking and rolling on the path to a successful freelance career! 🚀 #freelance #freelancers #freelancing #marketing #copywriting #digitalworld If you have any questions about your freelance career, feel free to drop me a message. The older people get, the more freelancing makes sense. Businesses want to hire people when they are young, energetic, cheap and willing to be trained. Business want to hire vendors who are savvy, experienced and fully trained. And they pay vendors MUCH more. Every W2 employee's salary represents less than half of the value they create - and usually less than that. As a vendor, you capture much more of the value of your labor.

Thanks for the kind mention, Anthony! If you aren’t disciplined to work, it’s hard to be a freelancer. I’ve worked for myself for more than half of my life and I feel like some of what I’ve done to make it in business, no one on the planet could pay enough to get me to do, otherwise. Sweat equity, I guess it is! But to work for yourself takes “grit!” Thanks again!! ✍️✍️☺️🎨
