FlightPath3D wants to make it easier for passengers to recognize interesting sites along the flight route. The company is taking its massive points of interest (POI) database and integrating it into the moving map display with the Flying Over Places offering, included as a new default view for all 3D installations. The view can also be retrofit into existing 3D installations.
The new view adds more than 50,000 POIs to the map, along with various bits of data about those locations. As FlightPath3D President Duncan Jackson explains, “Flying Over Places significantly expands our map feature set with the integration of over 50,000 points of interest (POIs) that auto-play as the flight progresses, providing historical information about landmarks, attractions, and places as they’re flown over en route.”
The availability of the solution over the breadth of FlightPath3D’s interfaces and systems is also compelling, as CEO Boris Veksler explains, “This, and our many other map features, help provide an innovative and consistent passenger experience across multiple aircraft types and IFE systems. So you can continue to elevate your brand and differentiate your inflight service.”

It would be good to have different views for pax on the left or right side of the aircraft.

There are left/right window views in the map interface, though I believe this feature doesn’t really distinguish.
