Solving Micronavigation for the Blind

How would you design an app to help a blind commuter find their bus stop in a world where GPS is not precise enough and waypoints can be up to 100 feet off? Chris Hoogewerff didn’t know either, so he leveraged extensive usability testing throughout the design process to ensure he wouldn’t risk making the mistake of building the wrong product.

In this talk from AltConf 2016, Chris covers his team’s approach for designing a hypothesis, user testing that hypothesis, and iterating until each of their visually impaired testers were able to find the precise location of a bus stop. Hopefully this talk will leave you feeling prepared to tackle your next design and development challenge with user testing at the forefront of your process!
