Business jet operator Jet Edge plans to outfit its full fleet of super-mid Challenger and large Cabin Gulfstream aircraft with the Gogo Business Aviation AVANCE L5 offering. In addition to the upgraded on-board hardware the solution will support streaming video solutions for passengers.
The AVANCE L5 system is truly a game changer for connectivity in the air. Providing inflight streaming and overall faster speed is yet another way we are enhancing and evolving our fleet to deliver an exceptional private aviation experience for our clients.
– Bill Papariella, CEO of Jet Edge
Jet Edge anticipates being the first company to fully equip its operating fleet with the AVANCE L5 offering, with completion targeted for Q3 2021. More than 20 aircraft already carry the upgraded kit today. The company’s website suggests the potential size of the deployment could quickly reach the hundreds of aircraft mark.
Sergio Aguirre, president of Gogo Business Aviation, notes the long term relationship with Jet Edge as part of the deal, as well as what it means for the future. While the companies are able to offer streaming-performance capacity on the existing network there are much higher hopes for what the Gogo 5G network will deliver when it finally goes live. The AVANCE L5 platform provides a (relatively) seamless upgrade path to the 5G offering, with identical mount points for the antenna hardware, easing the process.
The upgrade of these aircraft also provides a boost for Gogo’s efforts to realize a long-term revenue target of at least 10% compounded annually from 2020 to 2025. As part of that Gogo targets approximately 8% aircraft online growth and approximately 3% average service revenue per unit online growth through the period.
The upgraded aircraft will contribute to the increase in average service revenue, particularly with the streaming option enabled. Jet Edge generally makes the service available complimentary to consumers as part of the charter package pricing.
And when the 5G network launches expect the data package pricing to increase further.
