SmartSky snagged its first connected charter fleet customer. FlyExclusive will fit its fleet with the SmartSky air-to-ground inflight connectivity service beginning later this Spring.
As we grow, our partnership with SmartSky will ensure unparalleled connectivity inflight for our customers and crews.
– Tommy Sowers, flyExclusive’s President
The deal not only delivers a fleet win for SmartSky. It also represents a conversion of a customer away from the Gogo ATG product. The companies note that existing Gogo-equipped aircraft will transition to the SmartSky offering as part of the deal.
SmartSky Networks President Ryan Stone notes, “We’re honored to partner with flyExclusive and serve their customers and crews with our market-leading connected experience that makes real-time data transfer as accessible at 41,000 feet as it is on the ground. This marks another major SmartSky milestone as we continue down the path of delivering on the connected aircraft ecosystem.”
The first SmartSky equipped aircraft for flyExclusive is expected to enter service in Q2 2022. The company currently manages a fleet of 81 planes per its website, or “more than 75” per the press release.
SmartSky expects to provide full coverage of CONUS flight routes by the end of Q2. It officially launched the product in October 2021 with 50% of CONUS flight hours covered. That number increased to near 80% by the end of the year. Completing CONUS coverage by the end of Q2 2022 is in line with the company’s prior timelines, though at the outside edge.
