Nova LifeStyle’s new smart health furniture line

Nova LifeStyle, Inc., designer, manufacturer and distributor of modern LifeStyle furniture, announced the successful development of a new line of furniture that has the ability to monitor, record and deliver user data to key medical care providers.

Called Smart Health Furniture, the new line will be able to automatically examine a person’s blood pressure, heart rate, breathing, weight, body temperature, sleep quality and other physiological indexes. The data obtained by the Smart Health Furniture will be made available to medical professionals to aid in the early detection of possible health issues. Nova is currently in talks with several distributors in the US, China and Europe.

“We have extensively researched the trends in the health industry and wanted to capitalize on these trends by creating a new product line that is health-oriented,” commented Shawn Huang, Chief Engineer for the Company.  “Nova assembled a team of internationally-renowned experts in the fields of medical science, materials, and electronic science to work on R&D of this line of products over the past two years.  Additionally, we are vigorously registering the associated patents for the technology that we have developed through the R&D process.”

Qualcomm and Cerner collaborate for advanced remote health monitoring

Qualcomm Inc. subsidiary Qualcomm Life, Inc. announced a collaboration that would extend Cerner Corp.’s medical device connectivity capabilities to homes. Cerner will leverage Qualcomm Life’s FDA-listed 2net Platform and Hub to capture data from connected medical devices and sensors in patients’ homes such as weight scale, blood pressure monitor, thermometers to transmit it to Cerner health clients via Cerner’s CareAware device connectivity platform. This will allow care providers to remotely monitor chronically ill patients in real-time to potentially reduce the risk of an acute care episode.

“Our collaboration with Cerner will enable expanded reach of a scalable, remote patient monitoring (RPM) solution and is a step toward the realization of widespread population health management,” said Rick Valencia, general manager and senior vice president, Qualcomm Life, Inc. “As the industry transitions from episodic care within acute care settings to continuous care, available away from the bedside, there is a need for a secure, medical-grade connectivity solution, which our 2net Platform provides.”

One Drop app

Informed Data Systems Inc. has released a new app called One Drop which aims to make it easier for people with Type 1, Type 2, pre-diabetes or even diabetes caregivers to log core behavioral and biometric components of diabetes such as glucose level, food intake, insulin and physical activities all in one place. The data can be anonymously shared to the One Drop community and get help, support and insight from people who are in the same boat.

“As a person with Type 1 diabetes, I know firsthand that people with diabetes are really the ultimate ‘quantified selfers’,” said Jeff Dachis, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of One Drop, “And yet to manage each day we are still dealing with non-integrated, disconnected tools and technology, data sources locked in silos, and a healthcare universe that unwittingly disempowers, and demotivates.” Dachis added, “With One Drop, we want to change all that for Type 1, Type 2, and pre-diabetes. We believe we can dramatically and positively impact the way people experience their diabetes and in the process improve their health outcomes, reduce adverse incidents, and dramatically reduce costs for everyone.”

You can download the One Drop in the Apple App Store for free.
