Remember: most people are not like you and they are not responding to other people and situations like you are That’s why emotional intelligence matters so much Here are the 5 main core competencies to develop EQ: 1. Empathy - the ability to accurately understand how other people are experiencing the world regardless of whether you agree with it 2. Communication - the ability to effectively deliver the right messages to build a connection with another person and talk through difficult topics effectively 3. Self-awareness - understanding yourself enough to know how you impact other people and investing regularly in reflection to continuously learn about your evolving self 4. Self-regulation - your ability to manage your own emotions and be adaptable in challenging situations 5. Vulnerability - courageously leading by example with others to share your perspectives and emotions allowing them to open up in kind Emotions are a huge part of being human and by harnessing EQ you will be more successful in business and in life #emotionalintelligence #personaldevelopment #customersuccess

I firmly believe that if more people practiced empathy and communication, the current stress and frustration levels would decrease exponentially. From clients who have frustrations with a vendor, friends who may not agree on social issues, or family members who are going through different stages of life. The act of empathy shows respect, patience, and a willingness to listen to each other so both parties can achieve a common goal. We cannot take sides against each other and expect to build successful relationships both personally and professionally. It takes work and a lot of practice but the results are extremely rewarding!

The importance of Emotional Intelligence (empathy and communication skills!) is a drum that I've beaten repeatedly within my own organization. Thankfully, my managing partners agree! :-) The wonderful thing is that most of our staff see the benefit of growing their EQ inclusive of suggestions from peers, which is another example that these skills can be taught as long as a person buys into the concept. Keep droppin' that science Megan Bowen!

I help revenue teams uncover, master, and execute their most critical conversations every single time and show companies how to easily double revenue. Sales training is a lifestyle, not an event.

Right on point as usual - it's amazing how we fail to help our teams learn these skills. It can be the difference between having a great business and a fragile one.

Megan Bowen I believe that EQ is a learned and practiced behavior. It's important to learn the cues and questions to act better.
