Looking to bring one of the most popular sports in the world on board? Airlines now have a second option for delivering extensive Formula 1 content on their inflight entertainment systems, thanks to a distribution agreement with Anuvu.
With streaming services so readily available, travelers are constantly looking for new content and with Formula 1’s surging fan base, we feel this sport is a natural fit with our customers given that many people coordinate travel around the races. – Estibaliz Asiain, Anuvu SVP, Media & Content
The agreement makes nearly 150 hours of content available to aviation and maritime content customers, further extending Anuvu’s entertainment library beyond traditional Hollywood-centric content. Included in the library are season reviews dating back to 1981. The library also offers range of documentaries, such as:
- Beyond All Limits, tracking the the battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen
- Legends of F1, covering the lives of the most successful, engaging and respected F1 characters
- Chasing The Dream, following young stars fighting to become the future of Formula 1
- Vettel: More Than a Champion, behind the scenes with the champion to learn about his mindset in becoming the very best
Anuvu ran a trial program with the content during 2022, partnering with a large Asian airline. Data from the trial showed the F1 content was the the most-viewed entertainment in the airline’s portfolio during the trial
period.
Not included in the deal, however, is live coverage of F1 races. Airlines wishing to bring that content to passengers can do so through the Sport24 channel offered by Panasonic Avionics. It holds an exclusive license for delivering that content in flight.
