I am delighted to be able to tell you that another 30 courts have been added to the professional access (ID card) scheme, that allows members of the Bar to gain easier access to the courts.


The new courts, which will be part of the scheme from today, are:

  • Gloucester Crown Court
  • Great Grimsby Combined Court Centre
  • Guildford Magistrates’ & County Court
  • Harrow Crown Court
  • Hereford Crown Court
  • Inner London Crown
  • Iselworth Crown Court
  • Lincoln Crown Court
  • Medway Magistrates’ Court
  • Merthyr Law Courts (Combined)
  • Newport Crown Court
  • Norwich Combined Court
  • Oxford Combined Court
  • Peterborough Combined
  • Preston Magistrates’ Court

To obtain your Bar Council electronic ID card, log into your MyBar account, click on ‘HMCTS Court Access Pilot’ and follow the instructions to access your digital ID card.


I hope to be able to announce a further tranche of participating courts in December.
