Timmins Police Service will be saying goodbye to three sworn officers in the coming weeks.
During Tuesday’s Timmins Police Services Board meeting, the retirement of one sergeant was confirmed, as well as the resignation of a pair of constables.
Sgt. Marty Delich will be retiring from Timmins Police Service effective Feb. 1.
“Marty was our training officer and a very good officer,” said Interim Police Chief Denis Lavoie, who returned to the post on Jan. 15, as the board conducts a search for a permanent replacement for Daniel Foy, who retired in late November.
“He had a very meaningful and productive career with Timmins Police Service. We will be sorry to see him go, but it is time for him to explore other things.”
Board Chair Kraymr Grenke added, “We thank Sgt. Delich for his service.”
Const. Lindsie Durepos will be leaving Timmins Police Service effective Jan. 19, while Const. Chris Gauthier’s departure is effective Feb. 7.
During the meeting, the board accepted the resignation of the two constables.
In response from a question by board member Steve Black, Interim Chief Denis Lavoie confirmed one of the two constables has conducted an exit interview.
“I personally did one with Const. Durepos, but not with Const. Gauthier,” he said.
“I haven’t even seen him since I have been here, but he is not scheduled to go until Feb. 7.”
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, Grenke was re-elected chair of the board, with Kristin Murray re-elected as vice chair. Both votes were unanimous.
