Chinese tech startup Fourier Intelligence on Wednesday announced its goal of achieving mass production deliveries of humanoid robots within two years. The announcement comes shortly after the company’s first-generation robot debuted at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. Initially specializing in rehabilitation robots for physical therapy, the Shanghai-based company revealed its transition towards developing a general human-like robotics tech platform during a press conference. The Fourier GR-1, standing at 1.65 meters tall and weighing 55 kilograms, boasts 40 degrees of freedom throughout its body and is expected to hold “huge potential” in various applications, including industrial, rehabilitation, and scientific research, according to the company.
