Working on a local newspaper I lost count of the number of times the news desk rejected story ideas from readers because they "weren't a story".

From a recruitment ad for a local news journalist. “Provide content in print and online for [5 titles] and their associated websites…” “You will source at least seven pieces of original content per day….” “You’ll also supplement this with 20 pieces of written content per day including press releases, public notices, results or court announcements…” “…and while you’re at it stick a broom up your arse and sweep the floor” (I added that last bit). Unbelievable. #localnews #journalism #reporting #cutandpaste
