Frank Lloyd Wright's Robert Parker House lists for $840K

One of Frank Lloyd Wright’s more notorious homes in the Chicago area has returned to the market. Known as the Robert P. Parker House, this Victorian home was taken on by Wright in 1892 while the architect was still employed by Adler and Sullivan. Ultimately, taking the commission from Parker and two others led to Wright’s dismissal from Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan’s prestigious firm. However, Wright’s departure ultimately allowed the young architect to develop his brand of Prairie School design and become one of the world’s foremost thought leaders.

The house, while not Prairie School, does offer a hints at Wright’s early evolution as an architect. And fortunately, a lot of original details and finishes remain in this one. It’s not exactly a museum piece, but for a family that is seeking a practical home, this one will certainly serve the purpose. And with four bedrooms and three full bathrooms, the house is certainly practical even for today’s families.

The Parker House last entered the market in April 2014 when it listed at $798,000. A few weeks later, the price was reduced to $775,000. The price change seemed to do the trick as just a few days later, the house was under contract. It eventually closed at $750,000 in July 2014. This week, the famous “bootleg” house returns seeking $840,000.
