The WNBA world is abuzz with free agency news right now, but there's another major event on the horizon: the 2025 draft. Predicting who will and will not be drafted this year is a daunting — and exciting — task, especially since the potential pool is deep with talent.

In fact, there are so many talented athletes heading into the draft for the 2025 season that it could prove impossible to place them all on teams — and it's also possible that not every player who should be drafted has made it on to the major mock drafts (yet).

Standford senior Elena Bosgana, who was born and raised in Greece, is enjoying an absolutely incredible rise this season, but she's flying largely under the radar in a year that's so far included Aneesah Morrow dominating with double-doubles, JuJu Watkins knocking back points like it's easy, and Olivia Miles coming for Paige Bueckers' presumed number one spot.

Valkyries fans in particular should pay attention to what Bosgana brings to the table. She's been developed overseas, something the team clearly appreciates (the majority of the roster drafted at the Expansion Draft are from overseas teams). At 6'2" she's a formidable force on the court, and the team could use another guard or two to help flesh out the season (and she might even help fill a María Conde-shaped hole that's newly in the team's roster).

Though she's averaging 13.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.8 steals for Stanford this season, her stats from the last four games (also the first of 2025) seem to be demonstrating something has changed in her game for the better. At the team's Jan. 3 game against SMU she clocked 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal; two days later she pulled off 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 assists.

On Jan. 10 Bosgana added on 21 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals against FSU for her third double-double of the year, and on Jan. 12 against NCSU she knocked back 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

Bosgana has also grown in ways that go beyond stats. Though she was a major part of last year's Cardinals team (and was also on the 2022 squad that made it to the Final Four), this year she's demonstrated a much stronger capacity to run the floor and lead in a way that her younger teammates have largely benefitted from.

This season isn't Stanford's best, and that might be one reason why Bosgana is mostly flying under the radar. But if she keeps playing like this, Valkyries fans will want to keep her in mind for the team's number 17 and number 30 picks. Her dominant play at Stanford and international experience in FIBA and Eurobasket tournaments could make Bosgana an asset the Valkyries will be happy to have — and at the very least, if she keeps it up, fans can enjoy some very, very good basketball.
