This is probably going to age me a little bit, but one of my favourite go-to gifts, when I was a teen, was to exchange mixtapes with my friends. I’d burn about 8-10 carefully curated songs onto a CD (in one of the colourful jewel CD cases, of course), and painstakingly decorate the cover and CD with my own doodles. Nowadays I can browse unlimited music in Spotify to my heart’s desire but I think I’m still chasing the high of a completely personalised mixtape that’s been carefully curated with my personality and taste in mind. With my marketing hat on, I’ve recently been thinking about the messages that are sent out to my audience. COVID meant that email and other methods of digital communication were utilised and stretched to their limit. I have to admit that I get several sales messages every day that I choose to ignore because they are clearly not personalised. So how to cut through the noise? Curation. In my constant journey to become both a better marketer, and increase my L&D knowledge, this is a word that keeps popping up - and for good reason! Curating content is vital to create those personal connections. Doing the extra work to curate content means you’re saying “I acknowledge who you are, and I’ve given what I’m sending you some extra thought and care.” What I’ve learned from L&D and my team at Filtered are excellent tips to curate better which #marketers can certainly do more of. And #emailgeeks - we tend to do a lot of curation in our newsletters, don’t we? Here are some of my personal favourite tips to curate content that marketers can borrow: ✍ Write some commentary as to why you think this particular resource is good. Just sending someone a resource without a reason isn’t going to encourage engagement. ⌚ Be mindful of your audience’s time. Are they busy? Then sending them a resource that’s going to take hours of their time is a sure way to lose their attention pretty quickly. ⏳ Show how long the resources will take to consume. It sets the right expectation and prevents people from bouncing right off to do something else! L&D friends - what are your top #contentcuration tips you think marketers like me could benefit from? #learninganddevelopment #marketing #curation (Image source: https://lnkd.in/e5mRYD6A)

Funny you should mention this, because I actually curate music for a living lol In fact, I've developed all sorts of thematic and personalized projects. I developed a concept to help boost my morale while I job search. I call it THE 30-MINUTE MIXATHON: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/40bmeGH4IEFFmd6LFXOHAX?si=904c096a8798472e

Is it evidence based - the reliability test. Is the source/author a credible one? Time stamp it - what’s the expiration date?
