Detail of outcome

From 5 April 2018 to 15 June 2018, we consulted on powers for dealing with unauthorised development and encampments. On 6 February 2019 we published a summary of the consultation responses and the government’s way forward.

In our response, we have set out a package of measures to strengthen police powers and to assist local authorities in responding to unauthorised development and encampments, in addition to support for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.
