Wade House's celebration of Frank Lloyd Wright's 150th birthday will begin on Saturday with the first lecture of "Frank Lloyd Wright: A Wisconsin Original" monthly speaker series. Ryan Hewson, Manager of Collections for the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, will present a lecture titled "Taliesin and Horsepower" at 1 p.m. The lecture will be preceded by a beer and light hors d'oeuvres reception, which will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Hewson's presentation will highlight how horses were part of Wright's plans for Taliesin and a lifelong hobby for the famed architect. The talk will begin with a brief history of the development of Taliesin and the buildings that comprise the Taliesin Estate, starting with the arrival of Wright's ancestors to the Wyoming Valley of Wisconsin, where Taliesin is located and concluding with Wright's death in 1959. Hewson will outline how horsepower shaped Taliesin and describe the various carriages that Wright owned. The presentation will conclude with an update on current preservation projects in progress at Taliesin as well as a brief question and answer session.

The "Frank Lloyd Wright: A Wisconsin Original" monthly speaker series will take place at the Wade House Visitor Center, located at W7965 State 23 in Greenbush, halfway between Sheboygan and Fond du Lac. Admission to each "Frank Lloyd Wright: A Wisconsin Original" lecture is complimentary.
