Apple cider slushies are the perfect thing to keep in your freezer for an icy-cold anytime treat. Scraping it with a fork to create the slushie consistency is oddly satisfying and a technique we borrowed from granitas. You could even take these to the next level by making a homemade apple cider and impressing everyone! The trick is to make sure you don't let the mixture freeze completely before scraping it. You want a thin layer frozen on top on each time so that you can slowly turn it into shaved ice. It's worth the waiting!

mini cinnamon-sugar doughnuts
Directions
- Step 1Pour cider, lemon juice, and cinnamon in a loaf pan, whisking to combine. Freeze for 1 hour.
- Step 2Remove the cider mixture from the freezer and use a fork to scrape the slushy mixture, so it doesn't turn into a giant ice cube. Once fully scraped and stirred, return it to the freezer for 1 hour more.
- Step 3Remove the cider mixture from the freezer once again, using a fork to scrape and stir it into a consistency like shaved ice. If it's not frozen enough for your taste, pop it back in the freezer for another 45 minutes. Otherwise, spoon into 2 glasses and garnish each rim with a mini doughnut.
