of Stillwater died February 16 at age 93. Well known for the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed homes she built by hand with her husband Don, she laid stone and raked joints on the "Studio" in 1956 and helped build a second Wright design, the "Cottage" in 1973. She was an artist, antiquities collector and fashionista who wore both flamboyant designer creations and clothes she sewed herself. As close friends of Mr. Wright's widow, Virginia and Don became part of the Taliesin inner circle, regularly taking part in activities at both the Wisconsin and Scottsdale Wright estates. The couple traveled extensively in a role as consultants on ancient Chinese sculpture and Pre-columbian art. Their Wright homes were the subject of hundreds of books, magazines and publications and they often lectured at Wright symposiums. A steady stream of guests and Wright fans were always welcomed at their Stillwater residence, where Don died in 2001. Virginia is remembered by friends for her vivacious spirit and the ability to light up a room when she entered. A private celebration of her life will be held in the spring by her daughters Lonnie and Tracy.
