Welcome “Hops” to the JetBlue tail design collection. The new art appeared on the carrier’s first A220-300 as it emerged from the paint shop in Mobile, Alabama this week.
Among other small touches in the livery, the tail designs carry over to the winglets as well.
This is the third new tailfin design to emerge for the carrier in recent weeks. The other two appeared on A321neo aircraft, one in a Mint configuration and another on the first A321LR, planned for transatlantic service next year.
The carriers holds a firm order for 60 of the A220-300, planned to replace the Embraer E190 fleet in the coming years. The first aircraft is expected to be delivered before the end of 2020.
JetBlue plans 140 seats in the A220, with the initial operating base at Boston, though that hub choice was announced 18 months ago and a lot has changed in the industry since then. The carrier also previously announced that A220 fleet would sport the Thales AVANT inflight entertainment system and Viasat Aviation’s Ka-band satellite WiFi service.
