Security is a priority for vendors moving onto the Internet of Things (IoT) — a fact that explains why Webroot just released new tools to protect IoT connected devices.
Webroot's IoT Security Toolkit is designed for vendors and IoT integrators who are looking for a security layer between the IoT and the devices they build. This layer should insulate devices from malware and zero-day exploits, which are likely to grow as the IoT gets bigger, the company claims.
The new toolkit enables IoT and industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solution designers and system integrators to integrate cloud-based, real time threat intelligence services to identify threats as they are released.
It does this by connecting to the Webroot BrightCloud platform which scans the entire internet several times every day to find, classify and manage new threats as they arise.
The new toolkit detects changes in files that could indicate the presence of malicious code and monitors all incoming and outgoing traffic between devices and their control systems.
