Some podcasters may question the cool factor of radio, but the letters “FM” still connotate all things audio and as a result they are not hard to find when it comes to podcast companies on the web. BRS Media, the company that licenses the use of the dot-FM for websites says eleven of the top 25 websites ending in dot-FM were for podcast companies.

Topping the list is Castbox.fm for a second consecutive year. BRS Media says the company had 321 million website visitors last year. Spotify-owned Anchor.fm ranked third with 177 million visitors. Megaphone.fm was eighth with 107 million visitors to its website. Followed by Omny Studio’s website which had 91 million visitors. Also making the top 25 were podcast companies including Transistor, Overcast and Fireside as podcast apps, hosting companies and shows made podcasting the fast-growing segment for dot-FM in 2020.

“This past year has been noteworthy in shifting consumer habits and accelerating growth in online services,” said BRS Media CEO George Bundy. “It’s truly amazing to see the continued diversity within the .FM namespace, the innovation and originality of dotFM clients is inspiring.”
