In the words of Noddy Holder, it’s (nearly) Christmas, which means everyone here at It’s Nice That is gearing up for a week or two away from their laptops. Now’s the perfect time to reflect on creativity flourished in yet another turbulent 12 months on a topsy-turvy planet.

To do that, we sat down with some of 2018’s biggest names to get the inside scoop on how it felt to define their discipline. We’ve also cast a gaze over the globe, bringing you a series of features which look over 2018 from the perspectives of eight creatives from Los Angeles to Lagos, via Seoul and Shanghai. Oh, and a quartet of writers and designers have crafted a series of opinion pieces which examine the year in a variety of engaging ways, looking at everything from the rise of co-creation to the cultural significance of Colin Kaepernick.

Being kind souls, we’ve then compiled some of our best content from the last 12 months for your post-prandial perusing. Catch up on the very best in illustration, animation, photography, film, features, news, and, of course, graphic design.

If all that wasn’t enough, we decided to round off the year in conversational style with a pair of head-to-head interviews which see new-BBFs Joey You and Olimpia Zagnoli shooting the breeze about memes and giant crabs, and Pentagram partners Astrid Stavro and Jody Hudson-Powell chatted about life in one of the world’s premier design studios.

We hope you enjoy what we’ve brought you in 2018, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone back in January.
